ESSEX COUNTY, NEW JERSEY · REAL ESTATE

Buying or selling in Essex County?

Essex County packs a lot into a small map: Victorian streets in Montclair and Glen Ridge, Midtown Direct train towns like Maplewood, and the small-town feel of the Caldwells and Verona out west.

I’ve helped buyers, sellers and renters all over the county, from a five-bedroom on Prospect Street in Maplewood to apartments on Bloomfield Avenue. If you love older homes with character, we’re going to get along.

Where to look in
Essex County.

Every town has its own schools, taxes and personality.
Here’s a quick feel for each one.

Montclair

Busy downtowns along Bloomfield Avenue and Church Street, an arts scene, and several NJ Transit stations on the Montclair-Boonton Line.

Maplewood

A walkable village, Victorian and colonial homes, and Midtown Direct service to Penn Station on the Morris & Essex Line. Shares a school district with South Orange.

Glen Ridge

Gas-lit streets, a large historic district and some of the prettiest old homes in the county, all within one square mile or so.

Verona

Verona Park and its lake at the center of town, a friendly downtown, and easy access to Route 23 and the Caldwells.

Caldwell & West Caldwell

Classic small-town main streets on Bloomfield Avenue, tree-lined neighborhoods and a strong sense of community.

Livingston

A popular choice for families, with Livingston Mall, lots of parks and quick access to Routes 10 and 280.

Bloomfield

Brookdale Park, a growing downtown around Bloomfield Center, train access and some of the best value in the area.

Nearby

Also Cedar Grove, Essex Fells, North Caldwell, Roseland, Nutley and West Orange.

Why a local matters here.

Essex County buyers often want two things at once: a real neighborhood and a reasonable trip into Manhattan. I’ll help you weigh train lines, walkability and the quirks of older homes (knob-and-tube, oil tanks, original windows) before you fall in love.

03 / GOOD QUESTIONSAsk me anything.

Essex County
questions.

Which Essex County towns have the easiest commute to New York City?

Towns on the Morris & Essex Line, like Maplewood and South Orange, have Midtown Direct trains to Penn Station. Montclair, Glen Ridge and Bloomfield are on the Montclair-Boonton Line, with direct or connecting service depending on the train. I’m happy to walk through the options for your schedule.

Are older homes in Essex County hard to buy?

Not hard, but they deserve a careful look. Many homes in Montclair, Glen Ridge and Maplewood are 80 to 120 years old. I’ll help you plan inspections for things like oil tanks, old wiring, sewer lines and roofs, so there are no surprises.

How are property taxes in Essex County?

New Jersey property taxes are among the highest in the country, and they vary a lot from town to town and even house to house. I’ll pull the actual tax history for any home you’re considering.

I’m selling in Essex County. Where do I start?

Start with a conversation. I’ll look at recent sales near you, tell you which projects are worth doing (and which aren’t), and put together a pricing and prep plan. There’s no cost and no obligation.

Do you also help renters in Essex County?

Yes. I’m a Certified Rental Agent and have leased homes in Montclair, Bloomfield and Verona for both tenants and landlords.

04 / IT STARTS WITH A CONVERSATIONNo pressure. Just possibilities.
